Manny Pacquiao
Some Grab
Philippines were the recent recipient of the generosity of Manny “Pacman”
Pacquiao, 40. The boxing legend attended the National Heroes Day celebration on
August 26, 2019 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila,
Philippines.
Organized by ONE Championship and Grab Philippines, the event was
attended by Grab Philippines’ community members. Pacquiao donated 1,000 pesos
to every Grab driver in attendance, which ended up totaling 1 million pesos
overall.
Pacquiao took the time to make a sizable donation to the Jinkee and Manny
Heart Foundation, as well. The foundation gives free heart care for children in
the Philippines.
Present during the event were ONE Championship senior executive
Victor Cui, 48, and Team Lakay founder head coach Mark “The Machine”
Sangiao, 39. Training out of Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines,
former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang,
34, former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 30,
and reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio,
23, also attended the event.
A beautifully
framed ONE Championship world title belt was presented to Pacquiao as a
commemorative token for being a national hero. Cui, Sangiao, Folayang, Eustaquio
and Pacio helped present the token to the boxing legend.
“Everyone is in good spirits right now,” Folayang said
during the event. “It was such an honor to even be in the same room as Manny.
He’s an absolute legend in every sense.”
The Team Lakay
warriors were treated to a world-class evening program along with fans and Grab
drivers who all came out to see Pacquiao. To celebrate National Heroes
Day, Grab Philippines invited Grab drivers and their families for a day of fun
in an event that celebrated Grab’s Everyday Heroes on the road.
The event drew a huge crowd with entertainment and raffles. It also
featured performances by music and dance acts Shanti Dope, Rocksteddy and the
SexBomb Girls.
