Training out of Team Lakay in La Trinidad,
Benguet, Philippines, Lito Adiwang, 26, is set to make his ONE Championship
debut at “ONE: Century.” The Igorot mixed martial artist is fresh from a big
win in ONE Warrior Series where he received a six-figure contract.
ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Century” at the
Ryogoku Kokugikan, Tokyo, Japan on October 13, 2019. It will have two fight
cards with 11 bouts each.
In the third bout of the first fight card,
Adiwang will compete in an MMA bout in the strawweight division. He will fight
Senzo Ikeda, 36, of Tokyo, Japan.
“ONE: Century” marks Ikeda’s second ONE
Championship bout. He previously competed in Pancrase.
Ikeda is training out of The Paraestra Matsudo
in Chiba, Japan. In his most recent bout, he lost to Adiwang’s Team Lakay
teammate Danny “The King” Kingad, 23, of the Philippines, which downgraded the
professional MMA record of the Japanese fighter to 12 wins, 7 losses and 1
draw.
On the other hand, Adiwang’s most recent bout
was at “ONE Warrior Series 7” in Singapore on August 6, 2019. He defeated
Anthony “The Antidote” Do, 26, of Vietnam.
“With Lito moving on to ONE Championship, no
doubt the already stacked strawweight division will take notice of his power
and explosiveness,” ONE Warrior Series director Jonathan Fong said after
Adiwang’s ONE Warrior Series victory. “Look for him to make an immediate impact
as soon as he gets the call.”
Born on March 23, 1993, Adiwang has been
competing professionally since 2012. He is now riding a five-bout winning
streak with a professional MMA record of 9 wins and 2 losses.
Adiwang is not the only Filipino fighter on the
first “ONE: Century” card. Kingad will face Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson,
32, of the United States in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship
final.
Three more Filipinos are on the second “ONE:
Century” card. Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 29, of Team Lakay will fight Shinya
“Tobikan Judan” Aoki, 36, of Japan in an MMA bout in the lightweight division.
Team Lakay fighter Kevin “The Silencer”
Belingon, 31, will challenge reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano
“The Flash” Fernandes, 39, of Brazil. It will be the fourth time they will face
each other in ONE Championship.
In the main event, reigning ONE Heavyweight
World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, 41, of the Philippines will challenge
ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight Champion Aung La N Sang, 34, of Myanmar.
They will compete for the ONE Light Heavyweight World Championship title.
